Intelligent Printer Settings for Chrome

For users running Google Chrome and using the Epson Intelligent Printer this means you may encounter some troubles printing.

If you are using a compatible iPad, iPhone, iPod or Android Device switch to the Kounta App. If you are using a Mac running Safari 9 or greater switch to Chrome and follow the instructions below.

For users running Chrome on Windows.

You can manually toggle the 'load unsafe scripts' option when clicking on the shield icon in the search bar.


To have this option automatically apply follow the steps below:

1. Close Chrome.
   
   
2. Locate or create a Chrome desktop shortcut.
   
   
3. Right click and select Properties
   
   
4. Find the "Target" field
   
   
5. Scroll to the very right of that field and place your cursor after the closing " quotes
   
   
6. Add a space
   
   
7. Type in the following after the quotes "
   --allow-running-insecure-content
   
   
   
8. Relaunch Chrome and when you print you should see a strike through https://
   

Note: Running Chrome to allow insecure scripts may reduce security when interacting with other online services. Ensure that you are using Chrome in its default mode when using services other than Kounta.

For users running Chrome on Mac OS.

You can manually toggle the 'load unsafe scripts' option when clicking on the shield icon in the search bar.

To have this option automatically apply you will need to create an Apple Script using the following steps:

The below needs to be revised due to changes in Chrome behaviour in v62 and higher, we will provide an update shortly.

1. Open the Mac Application called “Script Editor” located in the folder Applications > Utilities. This is on every Mac by default.
2. Copy and paste the following line in the blank white field that appears: do shell script "open -a /Applications/Google\ Chrome.app --args --disable-web-security --user-data-dir="""
   
   
3. Click File > Save and choose a location for this script. The desktop is a good location so you can launch it easily when you’re trying to access POS. Ensure that you change File Format on this prompt to “Application”. Click Save. Close Script Editor.
   
   
4. Double-click your newly created Apple Script to trigger Chrome to launch with insecure scripts already being allowed. Setting Kounta POS as your home page in Chrome helps bring you straight to POS after opening this script.

For users running Chrome on Android

Most Android devices would be able to run the Kounta App for Android in which case these steps are not required. For devices that are unable to run the Kounta App and are using Chrome, follow the steps below:

1. Go to Settings
   
   
2. Find the Applications submenu (the location different for every android device in the Settings menu)
   
   
3. In the Applications submenu, look for the Chrome application and tap on it
   
   
4. Next tap on Uninstall Updates. This will revert to build 32 of Chrome on the Android device.
   
   
5. Re-launch Chrome
